Meet Our Student Assistants/Interns

Our Student Assistants are proud Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK students who have shown outstanding character, set apart talent and dedication in their academics and non-academic activities.

Purpose: The purpose of our student assistant programme is to give handpicked students a chance to achieve their dreams while exposing them to real-life experience by contributing to the operations of the university. They are students who enjoy 100  % free tuition till they complete their respective programs.

Meet our Social Media duo Raphne Carlos (1st picture from the left) and Hannah Soliao (2nd picture) – the duo exercises their skills and talents in content creation and marketing through monthly curation of artworks, digital materials, and community management throughout our social media channels.

Haven Decano (3rd picture) is AY 2020 – 2021’s Student Council President and a student assistant at our Abu Dhabi Admission Centre, helping with administrative duties and marketing tasks. She welcomes guests and parents to the receiving area.

Meet Raven Lucin (Middle)– our BSc (Hons) Creative Computing graduate of 2021. Raven helps the university put together and produce quality digital content, focusing on photo and video production and post-edits. Right now, he is about to complete his one-year internship.

Another duo is our students Wendy Pancito (5th picture) and Patricia Tolentino (6th picture), stationed at the Accounts Department, giving significant contributions in handling concerns and ensuring students and parents receive their financial statements on time.

Meet Cassandra Canlas (7th picture) – BA (Hons) Business and Management, final year student specializing in Marketing who is currently a big helping hand in both the university’s admissions and marketing department – assisting with parent and student relations and communications.

Bath Spa University Academic Center RAK believes that this kind of program upholds the true essence of our CSR – making a difference. It looks forward to supporting more student assistants in the future.

WEBINAR: "How to Stand Out In A Very Competitive Job Market"

In celebration of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges’ Research Fair with the theme “Utilizing Research Findings: Enhancing the School’s Research Performance, Applying Research Findings to Users” – Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK’s Professor Stefan Hofer from the Business School conducted a webinar entitled “How to stand out in a very competitive job market” 

The webinar aimed to provide students with timely insights on today’s job market – especially in this time of pandemic. Professor Stefan shared practical tips on how one fresh graduate can present him or herself as a valuable contribution to the organization and how they can be wise in searching for the perfect role for them. 

MANA MO (Maritime and Archipelagic Awarness Month)

With reference to Proclamation No. 316 declaring the month of September every year as Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (Mana Mo). This year’s  theme is “Iisang Bangka Tayo: Unity During Uncertain Times.” This year, the Philippine Consulate General Dubai and Northern Emirates together with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippines, organized a webinar where over 70 students from Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK participated.

Mana Mo aims to promote awareness and appreciation of the Philippines’ maritime and archipelagic concerns that are integral both to national security and the development of the country. The event also encourages stronger participation in the task of protecting the seas and shores, even more so as we face increasing challenges that are threatened by climate change.

BSU Cares - Back to School Campaign

BSU Cares is a charitable group founded and formed by the pioneering student council body of Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK. Every year, the respective student council identifies and plans out the charitable activities it will conduct for the academic year.

This year, together with the leadership of Dr Niño Decenorio, Senior Vice President – BSU Cares organized a Back to School Campaign for the students of Banwalan Primary School, General Santos City, Philippines with a student population of a little over 150. The campaign aims to provide its students with a brighter and more equipped school year ahead of them with the donations of stationery supplies such as notebooks, writing materials, books and other useful materials from BSU’s students, parents and corporate partners

This year, the campaign was also powered by BSU’s corporate partner CMG Cargo who volunteered and sponsored the shipment of four full cargo boxes!The team of BSU will continue to use the platform to extend the blessings to those in need.

FilClub Virtual Training Course Event

In partnership with Filipino-Club Rak – we launched a month-long virtual event of different courses led by the faculty of Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK from Accounting, HR, Video and Photo Editing, Emerging Technologies, MS Office and Public Speaking. The only way forward is to join our efforts in helping one another thrive and rise above the waves.

The pandemic took a toll in all of us not just personally but professionally; covering different aspects such as, being laid off, made redundant, salary cuts, overworking, demotivation and uncertainties of the future.

BSU Cares 2019

Bath Spa University – UAE students support the Education Advocacy for basic education students in the Philippines. The advocacy is spearheaded by the Founder of League for Legacy, Dan Lester Dabon who champions the cause for literacy. Thank you our dear students and the administration for sharing these materials for the benefit of the less fortunate kids in the Philippines. May your generosity be rewarded. Truly, BSU Cares!

Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards

Last 19th of January, 2017 Ras Al Khaimah Free Zone and RAK Investment Authority’s Chairman Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi awarded Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK under Future College FZE as the winner of Best Corporate Social Responsibility. 

The university takes pride in contributing not only to the business economy but to the society and its community through different channels such as our Student Scholar Program, BSU Cares (A charitable group formed by the university), Environmental Initiatives, etc.
